Whether or not Medicare will pay for the stay will depend on the type of care
your mother is going to need. If you are having to place your mother in the
nursing home as a permanent placement, Medicare does not cover long term,
custodial care costs. Medicare will only cover short term, rehabilitative stays.
Nursing home costs are usually paid through long term care insurance,
private pay, or through Medicaid.
If you are looking to place your mother in a nursing home, our staff is
available to assist you in that process. Our staff can look at your individual
circumstances and help you find the proper placement for her. Also, we can
help to determine if your mother qualifies for any benefits other than
Medicare, which could help defray her out of pocket expenses.
